-New import/export format to share cards, which also bundles the media files. Supports importing an updated version of the same exported cards, so that authors can release updated versions of their cards fixing e.g. spelling
mistakes.
-Implemented txt export with tab-separated values.
-You can now specify more than 1 tag to add during import (requested by Barbara).
-Don't crash card browser when searching for \ (reported by Faemorleto).
-Fix bug where active tags would sometimes not have a checkbox in the card browser (reported by Gnome).
-Made RTL handling for Arabic and Hebrew more robust.
-audio tags now support start and stop arguments, e.g. <audio ... start="1" stop="2"> will play the sound file from 1 to 2 seconds.
-Fix crash when cancelling duplicate insertion while converting cards (reported by Gnome).
-Fix for rare hangs 'assert interval == 0' (reported by Tom Cato).
-Translation fixes when converting between card types (reported by Gnome and Chris Schmidt).
-Make terminology in 'Current card' statistics more consistent with the card
 browser (reported by Henrik Giaever).

Hello,
looks good. But I'm not sure what "tags" means when exporting, are the tags specified added, changed or made as replacement?
Will you add ability for specifying card type when importing tab-separated text file later?
is the 'o_id' and 'fact' a random number?

Not sure what you mean. You mean the 'tags' field on importing? This
will give the cards these tags, in addition to the tags that were
already specified on import.

That is a different project. Please vote for that feature on uservoice,
that helps me prioritise what I work on next.

> is the 'o_id' and 'fact' a random number?

Things that look like random strings are unique object identifiers.
However, as a user, you should not have to deal with these. I also don't
recommend people manually creating file for the new export format. If
you want to automate card importing, it's much better to use the
libmnemosyne scripts for that.

Hi Peter

I am an awful new user to this.  I have down loaded the latest version of Mnemosyne for the MAC, but would like to also use my database on a PC.  Is there a way to import just the data files to the PC?  I have downloaded the latest version to my Netbook (using Windows XP).

Hi,

If you want to use Mnemosyne on your two different machines, use your
Mac as a server and your netbook as a client.

On your Mac, go to Settings - Configure Mnemosyne - Sync server, enable
the sync server and pick a username and password. Take note of the
address that will be displayed where the server is running.

Keep your Mac running, and on your netbook, make sure you don't have
cards in your database, choose File - Sync, and fill out the server
information, and now the netbook will download all your cards from the Mac.

Everytime you want to bring both machines in line again, make sure both
of them are running and do 'file - sync' on your netbook.

Hope this helps!

Peter

I haven't looked at this yet so it might be obvious, but I assume that
you can port-forward through a router to your "server" and get to your
mnemo-server through normal internet means, correct?

Yep, that's what I do myself.

(That's a feature of the router though, and not of Mnemosyne :-) )

Yeah, mainly I was wondering if you got to pick your port, so you'd
know what to forward TO.

Just have a look at the configuration screen :-)

Hello Peter,

Hooray! The 2.1 version is definitely an awesome milestone! I found several issues:
1. What's the difference between learning repetitions and review repetitions? In the "current_card.py", there are the same. Please make sure of that.
2. In the statistics page, Chinese characters cannot be displayed on graphs as attached.
3. The language options in mnemosyne include "Chinese (Singapore)", while launchpad doesn't have. For Singapore, please use "Chinese (Simplified)" instead or create a new language.

BTW, can launchpad notify translator when there is new untranslated item? When there is a new version of Mnemosyne, there are always new untranslated items which degrade the translation completeness and quality. Hope you are willing to rebuild the translation file this time.

Thanks!

Regards,
Bono

Copy and paste bug, fixed, thanks!

Hmm, the plotting library is different than the GUI library, so I'll
have to look into this to see if I can change the font.

The Singapore stuff is a leftover from a previous version. Deleted now.

As far as I know, Launchpad does not do this, but everytime I post a
release candidate in the future, you can see this a call to update
your translations. I will wait a least a week between RC and final
release in the future..

Will do!

Thanks!

Peter
