Hi,

I recently tried to start my old version of Mnemosyne and an unexpected error occured. so I copied the appData/Mnemosyne to my Drop box folder and uninstalled the old Version (unfortunately I don't remember which one) and installed the new Version.

When I try to open it I get this message:

Traceback (inntermost last):
File "mnemosyne", line 191, in <module>
File "mnemosyne\libmnemosyne\_init_.pyo", line 206, in initialise

when I click on OK nothing happens. I have up to 1000 cards many of them with images. Can you please help me with this.

thanks philipp

Hi,

It's best to delete appData/Mnemosyne/config and config.db and restart the program.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Peter,
thanks for the quick reply. I did as you said.
Now I have the error window: "unable to load file, query failed"
When I klick ok it says : " If you are using a USB key, refer to the instructions on the website so as not to be affected by drive letter changes.
Then the program asks me to open a database. I choose the my latest back up.
Now it seems that the card are back in place. But unfortunately all the images I put in there are gone, instead there's just a questionsmark, what can I do?

PS:
I closed Mnemosyne and restartet it, and now there is the same error as in the beginning again.

hi,

I think I just fixed it somehow.
I again deleted config.db, did a restart and loaded the "___TMP___.db" database. now I can restart and the pictures are back and no cards lost.
I hope this will be permanent.

thanks again for the quick help

Hi,

It's a bit strange that all your latest cards are in the __TMP__ database, as this typically is an empty temporary database that was created when the previous database could not be opened. But I assume you continued with this database in the past, which is why your latest cards are there.

For your info, pictures are stored in <database-name>.db_media, so this directory needs to be present/copied as well.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,

I expected same problem, I installed mnemosyne but I can't start the program, I received "Unable to load file, query failed". I deleted config.db and config.py but this don't solve the problem. Where is "___TMP___.db"?

Thanks.

Hi,

You're replying to a very old thread. First of all, make sure you using the latest version of Mnemosyne, preferably this one:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jkd5jm89vrgy9ow/Mnemosyne-2.4.1-pre-setup.exe?dl=0

Also try renaming your Mnemosyne directory (where config.db is stored) to e.g. Mnemosyne.off, so that you can see what happens on a fresh install.
