I just upgraded to 2.0 RC1 (Windows 7 64-bit).

Most of my cards have both images and text. Any time I start up Mnemosyne now, the image for the first card does not appear. There's no warning or anything, it's just as if the <img> didn't exist at all.

If I click Ctrl-E (to edit the current card) and then click Exit (without even making any changes) to return to the main window, the image now appears.

This is only an issue with the first card when starting up.

The images are .pngs, if that's at all relevant.

I tried to reproduce this on a W7 machine, but no luck...

Trust me, these strange Windows issues which I cannot reproduce are very
annoying to me too...

Hopefully, these issues get magically fixed when a new version of Qt comes out,
because the displaying of images is not something Mnemosyne handles itself...

I can second Dan's issue. I've had this problem with other images files (jpgs, gifs) for a few versions now. The pictures display eventually, but not on first card preview. Also using Windows 7 64-bit.

I get this too occasionally ... running Linux (64 bit) on a netbook. First time it happened I thought I had a faulty card and deleted it!

At first I thought the 64 bit issue might be the differentiator, but I just
checked, and the W7 machine I tested this on was Home Premium 64 bit, so that
seems like another dead end...

I'm afraid I have run out of ideas what is the factor that really causes Qt to
behave strangely on a select set of machines...

This bug also occurs on my Win 7 64.

The bug has been around for me before RC1.

It only occurs on the first card.

Perhaps the issue could be resolved by displaying a blank card before
loading the first card on startup?

For what it's worth, I never got this behavior with beta 11, but now get it 100% of the time with RC1.

I was also wondering whether there could be a workaround that in some way forces a refresh, but I know it's hard for Peter to try code like that when he can't duplicate the problem.

By the way, updating a card used to take a really long time on my computer (like 4 seconds after I pressed OK), and as of RC1 it is now effectively instantaneous. Thanks for that!

Indeed!

I'm afraid I didn't do anything specific for that... Unless you upgraded from a
really old beta.

I've been investigating some, the bug seems to be appearing after beta
10.

Tried the following releases:

Bug appears on:
RC1b - yes
RC1 - yes
11b - yes
11 - yes
10 - no
9 - no

Interesting. I am sure I was observing the slow update behavior in beta 10 (which is actually what I upgraded from, not 11, sorry for the misinformation - so my experience matches Gnome's).

Might be that that transition is when there was a change in Qt version...

It seems like each different Qt version has its own specific set of
problems...
