I know some users are syncing to Mnemododo via Dropbox. Does that work seamlessly?

I use Google Drive for lots of other things but when I make files available offline in Google's app the files stored on the phone are encrypted.
I can copy them back and forth from the Google Drive to my SD card manually but that is a bit tedious.

Could you update Mnemododo to work with Google Drive directly?
It should not be that hard to do:

I have not tried it personally, but several people have reported
success.

Understood. At least that gives a temporary solution.

Thank you for the link. I've put this feature request on my todo list.

(Even if it shouldn't be that hard, it may still take several hours of
development and debugging!)

I use dropbox to sync mnemosyne between two windows machines. I found that dropbox does not seem to sync the active db until you make a restart, so conflicting copies may be a problem. Also there is no (at least as I have found) way to select just certain files for syncing in dropbox, so you'll need to sync the entire mnemosyne directory. From what I've heard this may not be the best solution because of the config files.

Actually, if you do use dropbox, for the science server it's best to
sync the entire directory, including config files.

But if you are in the position to use one of your machines as a
(temporary) server, Mnemosyne's built-in sync mechanism is certainly
recommended :-)

I have considered that. Although that may be the best way when both machines are in the proximity, I tend use remote desktop instead, even though I then occupy both machines. I like to be sure that the latest db is used.

Care is also required when synchronizing Mnemogogo exports with
Dropbox (or any similar service, including Google drive) to avoid data
loss.

One must quit Mnemododo before export and wait until the entire export
directory has been transferred onto the mobile device before starting
it again.

Conversely, one must also quit Mnemododo and wait until the entire
export directory has been transferred back onto the computer before
clicking the Mnemogogo "Import" button.

Other than taking those precautions (and the extra support required
for Google Drive; for which there is still no Linux client...), it
should work smoothly.
