Hi Peter,

I had troubles logging into community group discussion, just wanted to place a note. I've installed successfully Mnemosyne 2.0 on my Windows PC. To cooperate with my mobile phone (Symbian based, Nokia 97 mini) I was to install respectivally Mnemogogo 2.0.3, according to rules had unzipped the file and loaded it to proper directory (C:\Documents and Settings\...User ....\.mnemosyne\plugins). Here there was file (mnemogogo_plugin.py) and directory (mnemogogo) with set of files (subdirectories). Then I noticed I can't installed any new plugins in my Mnoemosyne (Settings\Manage plugins.. \Install new plugins. The problem is that when I navigate (browse) in that directory C:\Documents and Settings\...User....\.mnemosyne\plugins the  - browsing window has predefined Files of type, that is Plugins (*.plugin), as shown in below shot.

So, it results that in this directory the file mnemogogo_plugin.py is invisible.

I tried many times and different options, but it seems I can overstep it. Is it an error.

I'm very satisfied with previous version of Mnemosyne. It worked perfectly with my mobilephone. The fact that it is available on mobile phone is the most crucial for me. My phone is always with me, so whenever I'm not busy I use it. Excellent.

Please let me know, shall I get back to older version or the reported problem can be fixed somehow.

Best Regards
Roman

I've just went again through my mail, don't know if you got the point :)

The problem is that the window I placed the shot in previous mail, has only one (single) type of possible file to be open - these are the files with extention .plugin. So, only such files can be visible while browsing for them. But the proper file, which is needed has different extension that is .py (so can't be loaded /open, is invisivble, what means I can't install this new plugin, although all necessary files has been properly unzipped and placed).

If I could change the "files of type" selecting e.g.    *.* or *.py then maybe it could work.

Regards
R

Hello,

Sorry for the delay in response. Problems with Mnemogogo are my fault!

There are two ways to install a plugin (including Mnemogogo) in 2.x,
either:

1. Download the .plugin/.zip file and extract the contents into your
.mnemosyne/plugin directory. Just as in Mnemosyne 1.x.

or

2. Download the .plugin file, choose "Install New Plugin" from within
Mnemosyne and select the file. Mnemosyne then extracts the contents
into your .mnemoysne/plugin directory. It also creates an
additional file so that it is easy to uninstall the plugin.

A ".plugin" file is just a ".zip" file with the extension changed.

There is a new step in Mnemosyne 2.x for activating plugins. After
installing a plugin, it may be necessary to check its box in the
"Manage Plugins..." window.

Mnemogogo (the plugin) and Mnemojojo (the java app) should continue to
work under Mnemosyne 2.x. I haven't yet release a 2.x update for
Mnemojojo, but the old version should work well provided you do not
use the new syncing features of Mnemosyne 2.x.

I will release an update to Mnemojojo, that works properly with the
syncing features, as soon as I find the time.

Tim.

Actually, while that still works, I definitely don't recommend it, is it requires users knowing about the location of that directory. Using the '*.plugin' file is the recommended way.
