HI

I am a japanese learner and this morning i tried to add the JLPT N2 vocab list to my decks and everything went wrong.
I downloaded http://mnemosyne-proj.org/cards/japanese-flash-cards-mnemosyne
and then when i clicked on the file it said there is no application to open it. Then I selected choose a program and clicked on "Mnemosyne" and then something came up saying my Mnemosyne has turned into a temporary mnemosyne. None of the cards i tried to download are in the TMP Mnemosyne and all my cards from before are gone. Is there anyway to reverse this and then from there properly add the file i downloaded to my decks?

ANY help or advice is appreciated
Thanks in advance

Do file - open and load default.db. Import your card file using file - import. The next version will give a warning when you try to open a cards file that way.

Normally, if you just do file - open you should already be in right directory, typically ~/library/mnemosyne

Hi

When i do file - open it goes to the /downloads/ folder?
I tried going to the /library/ folder manually but there was no mnemsoyne folder in there.

THanks again in advance

(please put your reply at the top, otherwise people have to scroll all
the way to the bottom).

I don't have access to Mac, so I can't walk you through the detailed
steps to open that folder or to search for the default.db using the
finder, but hopefully somebody with a Mac on this list will be able to
give you detailed instructions.

Cheers,

Peter

In the "Open" dialogue box, type the tilde character "~". A smaller alert box will pop up saying "Go to the folder:" - put the following in the text field and hit enter:
~/Library/Mnemosyne

The tilde character is important. After you hit enter, default.db should be visible on the right side.

Peter- Thanks a lot for trying to help anyway !

Hi Oisin Mac Fhearai

Thanks so much for your reply
I tried what you said but nothing came up when I searched. :(
I was searching under "All my files" - does that mean that I didnt properly download it originally?

In saying that, I can find the Mnemosyne app under "Applications"..

I have the same problem on my Mac as well.
I tried to upload cards, but when I opened the cards Mnemosyne changed into Mnemosyne-_TMP_ and all my cards are gone now. I deleted the program from my laptop and reinstalled Mnemosyne again, but now I got Mnemosyne-_TMP_ again and I can't change it. How can I delete this temporary file and when I reinstall get the version I had?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Please delete ~/Library/Mnemosyne/config and restart Mnemosyne. If you still get the tmp database, just browse to your regular one with 'file - open'.

Cheers,

Peter
