Dear Peter,

I just setup a new computer, installed Mnemosyne via apt-get (Version 2.8) and did the update to version 2.9. When I (de)activate cards I still run into that error.

What happens if you delete config.db in your Mnemosyne data directory? (but keep a backup handy in case that does not solve the problem)
