I use MacOS 12.7.6 and Mnemosyne version 2.11.
I found my (De)activate cards feature is unusable.
more specificlly, when I opened this dislog(Study-(De)activate crads or shortcut command+D), I got a window only have one option, which is unusable.(Attach a screenshot)
I wondered if this is a normal thing. And my main requirement is to Deactivate cards by tag.iShot_2024-10-08_19.57.08.png

You mean that the second option is not selectable? I'm putting our Mac developper in CC.

Kind regards,

Peter

I can reproduce this - the 2 dropdown options are selectable, but there's no interface to select tags. Clicking OK or Save this set for later use thus has no effect.

There's something seriously wrong with that dialog box on OSX. Here's what it looks like under Windows:

To all who follow this topic:
I have solved this problem with a simple way, which shows how it happend.
The way to solve this problem is to put cursor onto the bottom of the window and drag down, which will expand the window in the Y direction. Then, other options just appeared.
Besides, I found out that a lot of window would show uncorrectly with the size when it was first create. This is the most serious one which hide a important part and made it unable to use. While other windows like 'Clone card type' will show half of every line. Thus, I think it is necessary to provide warnings when abnormal window scaling results in display errors. Or, using a more simple way which is show window in a correct size which is large enough to avoid hiding some elements when it was created.

Thanks for debugging this! I'll check out the default window size on a new installation.

I tried starting Mnemosyne from an empty data directory under Windows, and there the window shows up fine. It must be something related to the behaviour of our GUI toolkit that does something strange on OSX... Or it might be that you used a very old version of Mnemosyne in the past, and that these old settings somehow interfered.

But anyway, glad you identified an easy workaround!

Matthew, thanks again for reporting. I've found a potential fix for this issue and posted the proposed code fix at https://github.com/mnemosyne-proj/mnemosyne/issues/285

I notice you said other dialogs had this issue - could you help me by sharing some of the ones you noticed so I could potentially fix those as well? Thanks!

Thanks, merged! Default sizes are coded in the UI file for each dialog. Strange that they are not applied on Mac...
