That should fix the browser error.
With respect to cards you lost, first of all, uninstalling Mnemosyne will leave your own database intact, so provided you have not deleted it manually, reinstalling a new version should pick up your current cards automatically.
Otherwise, if you have a backup which contains (e.g.) default.db (provided that's the name you used for your database), you can just copy it over to Mnemosyne's data directory, and then 'File - Open' should pick it up.
