I have found a bug in importing media: I have many media, so I group them into different subfolders (within default.db_media folder). But when I create a card with a media, and I use a dialog window to find the media, it creates a link, for example: instead of . And also makes a copy of the image.gif in the default.db_media folder. Of course the link works (because of the copy), but it makes mess in my media folder, and makes it twice as big.
I'm sure, I didn't have this problem before, so is it a bug of the new version of Mnemosyne, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi,

Make sure that if you use the dialog box to insert media, that you
actually point to media which is already present in the correct subdir
inside default.db_media.

Only if you point to a media file outside of default.db_media, it will
copy the media file there.

I just rechecked it and it still works.

Hi,

the media is in the correct subdirectory in default.db_media. I also rechecked it, and it still doesn't work.

Yesterday I had this problem on the USB mnemosyne, but today I checked it also on my 'home' computer and normal mnemosyne.

Also I have my Mnemosyne folder with data in the Program Files/Mnemosyne directory, because after installation of the last version of Mnemosyne, it didn't create any data Mnemosyne folder in AppData, MyDocuments, or anywhere else. Could this cause this problem?

I think you and Mnemosyne might have different ideas about what is the
data directory in use :-)

On an install which is not on a USB key, I would not put a data
directory inside Program Files/Mnemosyne. For 2.x, the data directory is
in a directory like C:\users\daniel\appdata\roaming\Mnemosyne (hidden
directory), but its exact form can vary depending on your system.

No, I used the same data directory as Mnemosyne (since it made its copies of the media files into this same directory). But I copied the data folder into appdata dir, and it solved the problem. But when I run Mnemosyne from USB, the problem persists.

OK, it will be a USB key specific bug then. I'll look into this.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce this with an usb key under windows XP.

Are you sure you are following these instructions?

http://mnemosyne-proj.org/help/running-from-usb-drive.php

Also, if you have Mnemosyne installed both on the pc and on the usb key, make sure not to confuse the two installations.

Cheers,

Peter
