I have Mnemosyne installed on Windows machines (Windows in English), however I am in an Asian country (Thailand) and so under the Windows "control panel", the localization/regional options indicate that this is Thailand.

What happens is that when I do a "browse cards", the fields such as "learn rep", "repeat rep", etc... they display as Thai numerals.

The same thing is true about the numeric fields under Configure Settings.  For example "autosave after .... repetitions" and "number of cards to hold".

Please note, this is with the setting in Mnemosyne configuration set to "English" as the language.

Anyway, I just wish when I chose "English" during the installation (and also in the "configuration settings"), that this choice was consistently reflected throughout the programs display and options.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as Thai numerals :-)

Do you also get Thai numerals if you e.g. use the German translation
rather than the default English one?

Hi,

Yes, there are Thai numerals.  Although I can read them, it doesn't make things convenient.  I mean, in daily life here we rarely see them.  These numerals are pretty much only used on formal, official documents like proclamations from the King.  Even native Thai speakers sometimes can't read them.  So to have them pop-up in the middle of while we are trying to use software, it's less than desirable.

I should say this isn't strictly a Mnemosyne issue -- this comes up about 40% of time in pieces of software under Windows.  When you live in a place like Asia, you want the Windows "control panel" options set to the local area because it makes integrating with the local environment more seamless.... yet when you install software and choose "English", you want (and expect) English to be used throughout...not some mish-mash of two things.

I am sure someone at Microsoft thought this was a great idea to have localization support role down from Windows to application software... but situations like this one are, at worse, exasperating.

I'll see if there's anything I can do about this at the level of Qt (the
GUI toolkit Mnemosyne uses).
