This is under Windows XP.

I use Mnemosyne on several computers and run it off my USB drive.

Today, I tried to do what I usually do, but on a computer I never used before.

I got an error about the database driver.

So, on this new computer I tried installing Mnemosyne. (So, version 2.2a).    I still get the error.

Here is the sequence:

1. I start Mnemosyne, either from this new computers hard drive or from my USB drive.  It doesn't seem to make any difference.

2. I go to FILE -> OPEN and open my database (which is on the USB drive).

3. It opens and tells me that I missed some reviews.

4. It shows a card (the card should be Japanese Kanji, but the Japanese doesn't show properly -- I'm assuming this display has something to do with the Windows here).

5. I try to BROWSE CARDS so that I can work on diagnosing the Windows Japanese display issue.

6. I get an error about a database driver, and when I click OK the program terminates.

I've attached part of a screen shot of this error.  You can see from the screen shot that the database is open, from the main Mnemosyne display.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Mark

Hi,

I suggest uninstalling Mnemosyne completely and then reinstalling it
on your local hard drive. Then, start Mnemosyne from your local hard
drive.

Cheers,

Peter

I've already tried that and I get the same results.

I uninstalled and re-installed and ran it from the hard drive, when it started I opened the DB that was on my USB drive.

I then also tried copying the DB to the C drive too.

It's made no difference.

Do you get the same errors if you just create a new, empty test
database and add a few cards to that?

Otherwise, feel free to mail me your db file privately, so that I can
have look at it.

Cheers,

Peter

There are three locations involved in this....

Yesterday, I had these problems at my "alternate office", which I will be back at next weekend and can try what you said about a new empty test database.

Just now, I ran Mnemosyne with no problem at my home.  At my home, I run it entirely from the USB drive and I don't have it even installed on the hard drive.

Tomorrow, I can try it at my regular office.  I suspect that will be fine too.

Thanks

OK, let me know how it goes and how the machine it doesn't work on
differs from the rest.
