Author Tom Disch, grew up in Minnesota before moving to New York city

Award candidate for this year) in the 2008 Rhysling Anthology, ed. Drew

Alan DeNiro sold novel Total Oblivion, More or Less to Bantam Spectra.
Ex-local Carolyn Ives Gilman has lead story, "Arkfall," in the
September Magazine Of Fantasy And Science Fiction.
Neil Gaiman has an essay on YA fiction in the July Locus.
The late John Berkey has an essay in Paint Or Pixel: The Digital Divide
(Nonstop Press tp, 2008, ed. Jane Frank)
Ex-local Kij Johnson's story "The Evolution of Trickster Stories Among
the Dogs of North Park After the Change" was nominated for the Sturgeon
Award; she withdrew it as one of the Award judges.
A manuscript short short story by Neil Gaiman, written for a
Waterstones UK bookstore charity auction, brought in £1300.
The Sharing Knife: Passage by Lois McMaster Bujold was #4 hc bestseller
on the July Locus list and #8 on the Borders/Walden list in the same
issue.
Locals and ex-locals in 2008 Locus Poll: Neil Gaiman won Best Novelette
