The trouble is not consistent. Sometimes I can get newsgroups, sometimes
not. When newsgroups and mail are working, web page access is not. There
were two days in late October that this happened and now it's happening
again. The latest times were yesterday (11/6) and today (11/7). I switched
from Sound Internet to uswest because Sound (scc.net) couldn't resolve a
trunk-to-trunk problem with their phone company (not US West) at the Beard
central office. So now I have better connections when I can get connected,
but worthless tech support. As anyone knows, switching ISPs and email
addresses is a royal pain and I hate to go through it again. We live on
the south end of Edina, too far for DSL. I know I have other options such
as Roadrunner, but what the hell is going on with Qwest? In case anyone is
wondering, I use Yahoo in the newsgroups to help cut down on spam.

Well, I've been happy with RoadRunner, it sure beats the heck out of
dialup and ISDN. If you're just looking for a clueful ISP, I've had
good experiences with visi.com and citilink.com.

I've had all the same problems. Most of my internet use is recreational,
so the problems are merely irritating. But if I were trying to use
Qwest.net for serious business I would be irate at such unreliable
service.

????
FWIW: Both USWest's and Qwest's main offices are located out of Denver.
USWest's main sales office is is Phoenix, but most of the tech stuff
was handled out of Seattle and Minneapolis.
Don't know how that makes it a Minnesota company.

I think she meant the old Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Everything
was local at one time if you go back far enough. As for tech support, when
I finally got through to them, I was taling to Fargo, North Dakota.
A while back I removed DSL service from my residential line in order to
take advantage of a "new customer only" DSL deal in Select service
(faster and cheaper than the deal they had me on).
It took 5 days for the disconnect and I asked for the service to be
added and it wasn't available! Although I had qualified 5 days before,
they made changes in the CO that made my line ineligible.
Sheesh!

Ummm...are you factoring in the cost of the ISP? That's just the LINE
charges...sheesh

I can vouch that Road Runner has been awesome for most people, and you can get
some unbeleivable download speeds for a home connection! :-)
Just my input!
