I'm curious which companies and/or individuals
own both the Pioneer Press and Star-Tribune.
Thanks in advance.

The Pioneer Press is part of the Knight-Ridder chain
(http://www.kri.com), while the Star-Tribune is part of the
McClatcy chain (http://www.mcclatchy.com).
I think the Star-Tribune was locally owned until quite recently.

Thank you, sir. Just the info. I was looking for.

Cowles Media used to own the Star Tribune, as well as the Des Moines
Register... and who knows what else.
Cowles sold the the Register off to Gannett like 10 years ago.
The Pioneer Press is owned by the national newspaper chain
Knight-Ridder.
The Star Tribune was owned locally by a company called Cowles Media, but
was sold last year to a chain called The McClatchy Company, out of
Sacremento, California.

Time flies. The sale was in early 1998.

Members of the Cowles family owned the Des Moines Register, but it was a
different company.
Over the years, the Minneapolis-based Cowles Media owned daily newspapers
in Buffalo, NY (failed), Rapid City, SD (sold), and Scottsdale, Ariz.
(sold). At the time Cowles Media was merged into the McClatchy Company, the
Star Tribune was its only newspaper asset. It also owned business
magazines, consumer magazines, a book-publishing company and other minor
businesses. McClatchy sold off everything but the Star Tribune, which was
the real prize in the $1.2 billion deal.

Much more than that. I believe it was in the early 1980s, perhaps 1984.

A Christian response to Darwinian theories of Evolution:
...Here can be seen the false dichotomy raised by some of those who would
use science to show the folly of a world view which included a supernatural
intelligence. theistic belief is not an alternative to physical science,
disproving it or devaluing it, it is a context in which the truths explored
by science can be set. This is a question not of physics, but of
metaphysics, and as Ward has correctly said, the contrary view to theism is
not science, but materialism, which is as much a thing of faith as is
religious belief...
