Wonder how much it costs to have it tested (assuming you need it for a
specific location*)? ISTR it was rolled into the home inspection fee when
we bought our place, but that cost some trivial amount and the inspector
was at the property for a couple of hours (so were we, so we know he
wasn't goofing off :-) which implies the water testing and report was
peanuts...
* and that you're not after historical data.
And actually, if you've got city water, have you tried contacting the
water company? Maybe they'll just send you the data for the asking, as I
assume they legally have to keep it on file...
The cost is minimal. We have a well and have it tested every few years.
We just go to the country and get a kit from them.

I'd guess most countries have a similar program.
The MN Dept of Health does well and water testing. I don't know
if they have the results for each area, but that might be a good
place to start.
Here in Bursville, they send out a mailing every so often with the
latest water quality tests. You local city might have something
similar on-line.

Here in Minnetonka we can get our info online. See below. AnnE
Drinking Water Quality
General Information
The quality of the city’s water remains excellent. The water meets the
standards set by the National Safe Drinking Water Act. Laboratory
tests are conducted regularly. Tests indicate that no harmful bacteria
or chemical contaminants are in the water supply that exceed accepted
standards.
The condition of the approximately three-hundred-mile distribution
system ranges from fair to very good. Most of the water mains are
flushed each spring. This procedure removes rust and sediment that
collects in the distribution system during the course of a year.
