I just received notice that my American Family rates are going up yet again
(they did 6 months ago, too) to nearly $1600 a year. I had one weather
related accident in 2006, and I haven't gotten a traffic ticket in years and
years beyond that. I got a quote this morning from Nationwide that can't be
beat. Any opinions out there yay or nay on Nationwide as an auto insurer??

Interesting. My auto rates with Secura went down a good bit even with an
accident in June 2009. I just talked with my agent this morning and he
said some of his clients have seen auto rates fall by as much as 40%.

How has your credit rating been doing?

That is a very good question and unfortunately it is legal to ask. They
basically assume a customer is willing to commit a criminal act if they have a
poor credit score and that isn't consitutional (they can sue if they can prove
fraud, but charging a customer for a crime they might commit in their
statistical opinion is wrong). I am surprised their ability to use credit
rating as part of the scoring process hasn't been thrown out in court a long
time ago .... but, insurance companies have a HUGE lobby and unfortunately our
representives do not represent us if paid to represent an insurance company
instead (said absolute corruption).
