After "New in Town" on Saturday, we drove over to the relatively new
Applewood Grill in Town & Country Shopping Center on Hwy 13 & Cty 11.
It'll always be Sioux Trail Shopping Center to me. :-)

Service was really slow ã one server (I had a sense that she's got some
ownership in the place) doing everything -- bar, food, clearing tables.
There may have been 8 tables of customers, four of which came in after
we did.

It's, uh, "interesting." I have no idea what the acoustics are like
when there's music on the little stage. Open beams and visible
ductwork. Artwork on the wall is of London. I thought that was odd,
but Alex knows I'm not a restaurant consultant.

29&Itemid=2> The former ownership (different name) didn't do very
good crowd control (a guy was killed in the parking lot somewhere along
the way) and Burnsville insisted that the new owner provide a security
guard on the weekends to stave off bad behavior. That was in his plan
all along, apparently.

They do catering, too.

We've seen the place and have occasionally mumbled about stopping there
for a meal sometime. They had an ad in the prelims to the movie that
nudged us there. I mentioned seeing the ad to the hostess/manager (I
don't think she's the owner after reading the newspaper story above) and
her response was, "Oh, thank God. I'm so glad to know that." I'm
guessing it was an expensive ad that they had high hope for.

We ordered hamburgers and cokes. The bill was $25. They offer three
burgers and I was a little puzzled by the way things were worded.
There's a clear category of Burgers with a line or two about 1/2# or
angus meat involved. Then the sandwiches are under that: Pulled Pork,
Minnesota something, and Something Else Something. Slap me, but I
wasn't sure if those were toppings to the burger or if they were a
pulled pork sandwich, a ham sandwich, and/or a something-else sandwich.
Further inquiry gave me the info that those were the names of the
burgers and their toppings. OK, I confess to being underwhelmed at the
thought of pulled pork on top of a hamburger patty but I didn't order
that, Rob did. And said it was good. I asked for a plain ol' burger
with fried onions, lettuce, and tomato. Af first I thought the onions
had been omitted because I couldn't see them. They were there, but they
were *caramelized* onions that were the same color as the burger patty.
Silly Barbara! A pile of kettle chips accompanied each burger.

I thought the burger was tasty enough. I don't think it was
hand-formed, however; it was pretty compact. And somehow, $25 (before a
tip) seemed like an expensive lunch for two hamburgers. Maybe I don't
order burgers enough to know but that's my nickel's take on it.

Folks at the next table raved about the chicken wings. They were baked,
I guess, not fried.

I might go back, but it sure wouldn't be for the ambience. Ugh. Ugh-ly.

The Applewood Grill is next door to the Shooters Billiard Club & Cafe.
An acquaintance and I were there during the same weekend you were. The
acquaintance frequents the Cafe and placed a special order not on the
menu. We each had a hamburger and waffle fries with special chili
beans laddled over all. This special tasted just great although the
patty was too well-done for my taste. The bill was $9/person; service
was good, not too busy on Sunday night about 10PM.

Shooters also has fast WiFi, with a AC plug-in in booths near the
kitchen. The place stays open until 3AM, although the kitchen probably
closes at midnight. We used the free WiFi until 2AM; http://www.shootersbilliardclub.com/
