MN-GRIN Members,

We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming meeting that will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. via MS Teams. Our presenters will be Charles Rodgers and Perry Schussler from the State Archives of the Minnesota Historical Society.

TIME:  8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

SUBJECT:  The Minnesota (MN) State Archives & Preserving Government Records with Historical Value. State Archives staff will give a brief overview of the MN State Archives functions including:

·         information about the state records laws,

·         the role of the MN Records Disposition Panel,

·         Records Retention Schedules,

·         transferring records to the State Archives, and

·         the preservation of digital records with historical value.

SPEAKERS:  Perry Schussler and Charlie Rodgers

SPEAKER BIOS:

Charles Rodgers

Charles Rodgers is the co-curator of the State Archives Collection and has worked at the Minnesota Historical Society for over 40 years.  His primary duties include acquiring government records with historical value from state and local governments, overseeing the processing of recently received records, and advising government officials and others on the historical value of Minnesota government records.  He is familiar with state and local government records retention schedules, and he regularly visits state and local government agencies to review, appraise and transfer records to the State Archives.

 

Perry Schussler

Perry Schussler (they/them) is a Government Records Archivist in the Minnesota State Archives at the Minnesota Historical Society, and since 2013 they have worked with records managers from all levels of state and local government on records retention guidance, records storage and preservation issues, and appraising and transferring archival records to the collection. Perry has an A.S. in Library and Information Technology from Minneapolis Community and Technical College and a B.A. in Political Science and Women's Studies from the University of Minnesota. Perry greatly enjoys cats and the X-Files.
