Hi gang,
Is there any packet activity here in the TCs?  I'm pretty well blocked to the north and west from my QTH in South St. Paul, so I'd be looking for stations east and south of same.
Thx!

Bob,

The only Packet activity I’ve heard is APRS data. I always thought packet was pretty cool and enjoyed it in its heyday. It still is a viable format. Its pretty easy to set up if we could get enough hams to participate.

And where on the bands are you hearing that?

There is a BPQ node on 145.67 as well as on AXIP and 14.105/7.104.  Seems the radio nodes are part time.  For a map: <http://www.ve9sc.com:81/NodeMap.html>

144.390 has pretty consistent activity.

Which is a different mode/modulation than packet, yes?

It is my understanding that packet radio is generically AX.25 and APRS is data transmitted in a text at 1200baud.  I saw at a hamfest that there was packet radio from St Paul to Duluth and I'd like to connect in and see what its all about.

I have a Kantronics for my Compaq Portable and a Pakratt-64 for my Commodore 64 and I'm ready to go back to 1985!

Interesting.....yeah, I'm still trying to sort all the angles out about packet.  However, I dare to differ, 1980 was a MUCH better year.  😝😊

I’m not sure, but think it is all AX25 protocol.
