Some Doubts in QM

Hi Prashant,

Hope you are doing fine. I am Rakesh from Advansoft. I am sending this mail on behalf of everybody from MM/WM batch here. We have got some doubts in QM:

1. While creating "Master Inspection Characteristics", can we select both Qualitative as well as Quantitative characteristics. We mean to say , can we have both the characteristics in a single Master Inspection Characteristics?
2. Can you briefly give us the steps for 03 inspection type for a semi-finished material?
3. If we have a QM and WM both active, then just after MIGO, what steps do we follow? We mean, do we do QM Cycle first, or we have to put the material in storage bin (WM Cycle) first and then we have to do the QM Cycle?
4. We tried 08 inspection type with STO. In that case, after doing the Transfer Posting from supplying Plant, the stock is directly going to unrestricted. We are not doing QM Cycle anywhere. Why?
5. Can you give us some scenarios which you came across, which we can use for our interviews?

My Coments:

1.)This is not possible with SAP.Master Inspection characteristics are always unique to the type of characteristics either Qualitative or Quantitative.

2.1)Material Master has 03 Inspection Type Activated.

2.2)Create Master Inspection Characteristics (MIC) - (QS21)

2.3)Include MIC into Routing (CA02) - Assign MIC against the OPERATION NUMBER

2.4)Create and Release the Production Order - CO02

2.5)Inspection Lot are Automatically created

2.6)Record Results - QE51N

2.7)Usage Decision - QA11- Manually for Accepted and Rejected Lots (OR) Automatically for Accepted Lots (all MIC passed-->GREEN) through setting the variant in QA41.

3.) Below are the steps we followed in one of our implementation.Again these are SAP standard Steps followed for QM/WM interface.

3.1)MB01 or MIGO ---->Inspection Lot created Automatically.The material is not available for removal from stock in the WMS until step 3.4

3.2)TO converted into TR.Putway the stock in Storage Type 917 basically it is in Quality Area (917).Quant is created.

3.3)QA11

3.4)QA11 creates PCN which is converted into TO

3.5)TO moves the quantity from 917 to 922.This TO puts the material into the BIN.

 

Some of the steps are based on the configuration settings.

 

If the QM and WM both Active than you at first complete the QM cycle.

 

4.)Create a STO with UB type.

4.1)Goods Issue from suppling plant

4.2)Goods receipt in Receiving PLant (MIGO)

 

the stock will go into Quality in receiving Plant.

 

I am not sure what you meant by Transfer Posting?
