Apple Keychain

I know I’m getting on a bit, but I find the Keychain App very complicated, to the point of being impenetrable.

Anyone know of a really simple idiot's guide, please?

What are you trying to do in/with the app? I see it as a list of Passwords, although it will do way more if you are linked to a directory and need to deal with certificates, but I suspect you aren't doing that?
