.png file

I'm told and it says online that Preview will open a .png file.

I can't see how that works - anyone give me a clue, please?

OS 11.7.11, Preview 11 (1018.6.3),

Any pointers gratefully received.

Why Not? It is a picture file and Preview can convert it into some other forms. I do it all the time. Just double click and it should open. If it doesn’t open then it is usually a problem with corrupted file.
