Have you tried oyyy.co.uk? It was the cheapest we could find for the
dreaded OPC drum and a multi pack of colour cartridges for the 2450.

Thank you.
Funny enough the price of replacing toners and the drum is more than the price of
a new Magicolour 2550 .
It is out of stock

After my Magicolor experience, I think you'd be better off going for
the new printer!

There is a more economical and arguably better way, £30.60 +VAT for
the colours and £23.60 +VAT for the Black or "K" That includes
instructions for resetting the OPC drum 3 times..
http://www.refilltoner.com/toner_refill.htm

I've done it, it works 100%, though you'll have to buy a new chip
(£5.60 +VAT)for subsequent refills..

It is a very good laser printer and I had printed stunning digital
photos and other documents. But the ink is running out and the
replacement is very expensive. The machine came with HD toners. and
there are now many promotion of selling a brand new machine with
toners at £245
cheaper that a set of accessories. unbelievable.

The toners in the promotional offers that you refer to are STANDARD
capacity and not High Capacity.. 1500 pages as opposed to 4500..

Javad, click the link that I have previously posted, and read how to
refill your own.. It's easy..
Maybe you don't know, but different coloured text in a post is what's
know as a "Clickable Link"
Just double click on it or copy/paste it into your browser's address
bar..

BTW (By The Way) I do believe the correct terminology is "High
Capacity" so if you're searching for <High Density> toners you may
come up empty handed..
FWIW IMHO.

BTW E-Bay is an education regarding REMANUFACTURED toner cartridges..
A search there for 2550 ones yields over 45 sources most of them at
£35 to £40 and most of the suppliers do a combined postage deal..
Well that was 5 minutes ago so it may have changed somewhat..

The set of refill is straight forward except if, in the process, you
accidentally drop the lid into the toner.
Then you have to empty it to get the lid out and refill it. I was
surprised to see that the same amount
that the refill sellers send you came out of the toner. Therefore the
refill is indeed REFILL.
And when you discard the used toner you throw away half full toner !
I thought you might like to know

Indeed Javad, the machine says the toner is empty when there is
substantial toner left.. It's the same with the 2300 and 2450. I
wonder why the manufactures do that ? to be helpful maybe ? or could
there be another reason ?

What I do is to weigh an completely EMPTY cartridge with my digital
kitchen scales, and then take the cartridges out and check their
weight.
Inside the access lid of most machines there's a catch that allows the
manual rotation of the cartridges, check the service manual..
I can only remember the 2300 weights as I don't use the 2450 very
much.
The empty 2300 cartridge is 500gm and full it's 650gm, the machine
says empty at approx 540. You can manually reset the capacity
indicator on the 2300 cartridges with a small screwdriver inserted in
the slot by the silver tab.
The cartridges that have "Chips" are easy enough to refill and the
chips don't always need changing, if they DO, they're only a fiver..

On some machines the OPC drum also collects the waste toner, you can
replace the fuse and empty the waste toner and send the drum on
another 35,000 page cycle using a simple tool and process. You use the
tool that's in common use for the "Melt and Pour" technique and you
melt a hole in the opc/waste toner drum and empty it, covering the
hole with adhesive tape afterwards. I've got 3 complete cycles from a
2450 drum with no apparent quality degradation.
The best people to talk to about toner refills are the UK experts,
http://www.refilltoner.com/toner_refill.htm
Just in case you're wondering, I have absolutely no affiliation with
them whatsoever.

Basil,
Many thanks for interesting information. If it was not for my
accident I would never had discover the
secret of the toner. I knew from the ink-jet that 1/3 is left behind
when you throw away the
cartridges. But also the people who sell refill are exploiting this
knowledge. I bought my refill from the site you
recommended. The bottle has 145 grams powder. In my case I had to
emty the toner to get the lid out. Therefore my
toner contains 145 grams instead of 650-grams. At the moment it is
working because I had to change the chip.
But I smell rats. I email to those refill people and after I insisted
to get the answer they maintained that this toner could print 2400
pages on 1/4 of pages !.
But I know that they know it was wrong. They do not want to lose faces.
Many thanks again for the advice . I will use it .
Best regards
Javad
