Trouble with Contacts app.

It Being the season of goodwill and all, I've been updating my Contact groups.

Some time ago, after an update, Contacts decided to duplicate every group on my machine. It still worked OK, but now I find I can sometimes add and delete entries, and sometimes it will print the Christmas Card labels properly, but not always.(Epson XP-3200, Expression Home, whatever that may mean).

I'm on a mid-2015 27"running Big Sur, 11.7.10.  I've tried looking for an update, but the search never ends, just goes on for ever, not even 'Your Mac is up to date".

Any advice welcome, as the Apple support site is more impenetrable than the current Rail Timetables....
