There was a little discussion of this about a month ago and I complained that maps had downgraded near me. It appeared to be a problem about caching. Anyway just looked again on hybrid view and very significant upgrade, at least around Harborne, with 3d view.
Unfortunately just shows the deficiencies of link to Yelp as, on High Street, Harborne if you angle the 3d you can read the name of supermarket as Waitrose even though the POI shopping flag still says Somerfields ( 5 years + out of date). I've reported all the wrong POIs along the High Street multiple times and Waitrose tell me they have also reported it but nothing has changed including many closed premises.
On this basis I reckon it needs Apple to link with different partner / takeover someone before POI are reliable but maps seems to be getting there.
