Hi,
Having searched Apple help I am now confused...not hard to be honest...lol...

I want to make a back up copy of a number of mail messages (about 1300)...many with attachments, can someone advise what is the best and safest way of doing this?

I want to keep the originals on my .Mac account online folders..

Thanks in advance if anyone knows..

Alex..

Surely the best way is to copy the ~/Library/Mail folder to an external device, CD or online backup of this folder? That should backup all your mailboxes.

If you sign up and install Mozy, you can use one of its preset backup sets for Apple Mail and not have to worry about it.

Hi Dom,
Thanks for the info...

Sorry to be seeming thick...but I presume in order to do that I would need to first copy all of the mails to a local mailbox!!

As currently they are all stored on a mailbox on my dot mac account..

If you've added it to Mail.app, chances are its cached it all. If you look in that folder, you should see a folder for your email account, which should be a few hundred MB in size at least.

Hi Alex

You can simply make an archive copy of a mailbox by right clicking on it and choosing Archive. This way you can then save the entire contents of the mailbox. I then upload the archive to my iDisk for safe keeping.
