Downloaded as described but could not open as resulted in:

can’t be opened because it’s by unknown developer.

Right click and then open still gives:

“iWork09Trial.mpkg” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

The dialog is because of Gatekeeper…
https://support.apple.com/kb/HT5290

Please be careful with what you install, there were hacked versions of iLife or iWork installers that had backdoors inside the installer, I remember it appearing after one the great leader's keynotes.

My official iWork09.mpkg installer doesn't prompt when Gatekeeper is set to 'App store & identified developers' on 10.9.
My official iLife '09.mpkg installer doesn't prompt when Gatekeeper is set to 'App store & identified developers' on 10.9.

The only explanation is that either Apple didn't 'sign' the Trial version or that package has been modified & is not signed by Apple.

Apple also upgrade Aperture if you have a copy (even the trial) installed, but I don't trust Softpedia with my Mac.

If you’re not purchasing a new Mac but have upgraded to the Mavericks, you can still get in on the action with a simple hack.

Thanks Drew.

Not an essential right now so I’ll live without!
