Connecting Mac mini to Sony 32" TV means I can't see the menu bar at
the top, and the 'picture shift' on the TV doesn't operate on HDMI
input. There are fixes on the web - has anyone experience of them?
Also the audio o/p with everything flat out is barely adequate, only
just usable. Does anyone know how to increase it?

How are you connecting to your TV? I have had my MacBook Pro connected
via DVI to HDMI with no issues.

Try going to Display in System Prefences when it's connected and check
the resolution. If you're on an HDMI cable, it should have 1080i or
730p settings options, rather than a pixel number setting. Mine
defaults to 1080i on my Sony TV.

Try going onto display settings, untick overscan and this should allow the
menu bar to be visible
