Javad,

There a number of applications and websites that let you download
flash content as a usable video file. Vixy.net is or such site and
just needs the URL

However, I think that you would be breaking copyright laws if you
reuse their content as you don't have permission to redistribute it.

I would suggest trying to find some other content you are legally able
to use.

Folks,

I've an original Mac Pro and have been running two monitors off it
very cheerily. Now I want a third and I understand that I need to buy
a graphics card but after that I appear to be confused.

Because I've bought the new monitor (it's a very nice Acer 23in; I
think I may even prefer it to my ancient Apple Cinema Display and it's
certainly much better than my Cibox) and I can't get all three to work
at the same time. Presumably it's my graphics card and/or the socket
I've put it in. The card is a PNY NVidia GeForce 210, chosen
especially for its cheapness-since-I-know-no-better.

The Expansion Slot Utility sees it and tells me it's running at below
maximum speed: the card is a x16 and the original Mac Pro has only one
x16 slot. But I believed, and the Utility suggests, that the card may
run successfully enough at 8x. No sign yet. Plus, System Profiler
spots the card correctly under the Graphics/Displays option (but only
the card, it doesn't recognise that a display is attached) yet under
the PCI Cards bit it just says "There was an error while gathering PCI
card information".

I've tried the new card in slots 2 and 4; my next move when I can is
to try it in slot 1 and the Mac Pro's own original graphics card in
one of the others.

But I have no confidence, no real idea what I'm doing and so far no
trio of monitors.

Sorry for the long "previously on William's monitors" but might anyone
have an idea what I should do? Or perhaps where I could look? I've
read through the Apple Support site without a lot of luck or
understanding so far.

Thanks for any advice you can suggest,
William

Many Thanks,
I always ask permission. They would not reject if it is for non commercial use and non profit case

Hi

I'm fairly certain that the PNY GeForce 210 card won't work in your mac, i've not heard of a cheapo PC card that will. Usual advice is to try an ATI Radeon 9200, HD2600 or a HD3870 but all of these are more costly options.

This is the Apple card to use

Apparently it should work OK in your machine despite the Apple requirements...

Cheers
B.

Superb, thank you. I'll order that Apple card now.

Much appreciated,
William

OK, but do be warned that Apple don;t officially support it so you'll be doing it at your own risk. (says Ben trying not to be blamed if it all goes horribly wrong)

I've no illusions - or only a few, anyway - so don't be concerned: I won't even look at you with puppy-dog eyes if it fails.

Don't worry, the MMUG member on the Number 1 bus wouldn't think William could be said to have acted in reliance on your statement.

Hiya,

And the result is... No, it didn't work. But it's my own thick fault: when I reread the page you sent me, I saw that it said so in big, plain letters. The Apple Store said I can return it, though, so I'm moving on to look at these other cards you mention.

Thanks: I'm actually learning things,
William
