Hi chenna,
Thanks for signing my petition, asking the Maharashtra Chief Minister to give water allocated to industries back to the farmers. The response has been great. Over 13,000 of you have signed my petition in less than a week.
Water is being allocated to industries when large parts of the state are facing a severe drought. Ajit Pawar, who has offered to urinate in the dams for us, is responsible for making these allocations. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan can fix his deputy’s blunder by giving this water back to us.
I need more people like you to convince the CM that water needs to go back to the farmers. Can you please forward the email below to your friends and ask them to sign our petition as well.
Thanks!

“..from where will we give him water? Should we urinate in dams?” - Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashatra to farmers affected by drought in Maharashtra.
Hi,
Show your support for farmers |
This statement made me so angry! Drought is not a joke. People are suffering in my village, some villages nearby are being abandoned, because there’s no water. And the Deputy CM offers us urine,[1] because the state has given away all the water to industries in these areas.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan has to make amends for his deputy’s crass comments, and the injustice meted out to the farmers. Water allocated to industry, needs to go back to the farmers who are battling the drought.
I’ve started a petition asking the CM to give water back to the farmers by reversing the water allocations made to industries in drought hit areas of Maharashtra. It will be great if you support this demand too, so that the CM knows that I’m not the only one who wants justice for the farmers.
Here’s the link to the petition I have started.
The CM is under tremendous pressure already. The opposition parties in the state and the media have taken up the drought issue in a big way. My petition will add to this pressure and will help the us get the water we need.
Between 2003 to 2011 Ajit Pawar was responsible for allocating 2,000 million cubic metres of water meant for irrigation to industries.[2] Now, when Maharashtra has been hit by the worst drought in the last 40 years, he talks about peeing in the dams.
I have been trying to stop water from being allocated to thermal power plants in Amravati district. [3] Farmers like me will always suffer if the government keeps taking away water from agriculture. We need water and the government must give it to us.
Let’s show the CM and his deputies that there are people who want justice for the farmers.
Sign this petition now!
Thanks!
