Jeanne Shaw, a follower of Avatar Meher Baba who visited Meher Mount with Him on August 2, 1956, wrote about her personal experience that day regarding Baba's Tree. She sent the following to Brian Narelle, who agreed to share her message.

A "tree story took place at Meher Mount Ojai when the large group with Baba (1956) were there. Baba sat amongst us all in [the] house and after few brief messages, said, "Now, go out and enjoy the scenery, and take Me with you!'
"I wanted to do precisely (literally) what He said, so I 'imagined' Baba beside me, talking 'to Him' as I walked by myself.
I'D LOVE TO SEE BABA SIT UNDER THIS TREE
"When I reached a large tree, similar to a 'Banyan' tree of India, I exclaimed 'Oh Baba that tree is beautiful like the ones in India. I'd love to see you sit under this tree.'
"Then I went on, looking about when I decided to walk back. As I turned around I was amazed to See Baba walking briskly, toward that tree and I said to myself, 'Oh will Baba sit there?'
"Baba went toward [the] tree and several Baba folks following Him. Before I could get to where the tree was, the crowd surrounded Baba and I couldn't see.
MEHER BABA IS ALWAYS CLOSE "When people started to go away back toward [the] house, I approached wondering if Baba was still there. He was waiting and beckoned to me, to come forward and bestowed a kiss on my cheek.
"Baba, verified to me, that He was beside me (not just in my mind and imagination) and heard me and came to grant my wish 'to sit by the large tree.' This strengthened my faith - 'that He is always near, close.'
MY HEART IS FILLED WITH JOY "After Baba gave me a kiss; it filled my heart with such joy, I felt His love for a long while. I sat down by a tree near the house and just enjoyed the bliss (I felt), and I didn't care to join others at lunch."

Each year, in honor of Meher Baba's 1956 visit, Meher Mount hosts an Anniversary Celebration on the second Saturday in August.
This year, special guest Khaled Alfaqih will share his memories and stories of meeting and being with Meher Baba in India in 1962. He is an insightful, articulate and witty speaker. All are welcome.
Program Schedule:
11:30 a.m.: Potluck Lunch
1:15 p.m.: "My Life with Meher Baba" - Khaled Alfaqih
3:30 p.m.: Arti (prayers and songs) under Baba's Tree
4:30 p.m.: Tea & Closing
There is a suggested $20 donation to help cover the costs of the event.
There is a no-host dinner that event for all who are interested at Boccali's restaurant in Ojai. If attending, please bring cash or your checkbook; Boccali's does not accept credit cards.

By sharing stories of his life with Meher Baba, Bill brings us closer to the Avatar. Bill had the good fortune to meet Meher Baba in 1954 and spend time with Him in 1956, 1956, 1962, and 1967. Come spend time at Meher Mount listening and sharing in Bill's stories.
Diana Le Page is a well known artist who focuses exclusively on Meher Baba.

The Gutta Breakfast is an opportunity to share insights, ask questions, and discuss Avatar Meher Baba and His life and words.
The event starts with breakfast hosted by Fred Stankus and Gigi Driessen (a former Meher Mount Board member).
After breakfast, Fred leads a heartfelt discussion of selected passages from Lord Meher, the multi-volume account of Avatar Meher Baba's life by Bhau Kalchuri, one of Meher Baba's close disciples. The event is free and open to all.
