3G ism more bandwidth than 2G technology. More bandwidth mean more space to transfer large amount of data like Internet, downloading etc. 2G is at the flat maturity at PLC. Where 3G is at growth in PLC. 
Gambling in 3G by Hutchison:- Hutchison take very high risk in investing new technology  i.e 3G because they have threat of failure of their product.
Adoption process:- Japan is a innovators of the 3G service and it will adopted by the half of the Japanese  and they are at earlier adopter in Adopter Categorization. And it spread Europe and worldwide. 
Application of 3G:- 1) Real time communication for example phone calls, e-mail and faxes.
                                 2) High-speed internet access by which we browse web and done downloading                                 
                                 3) Watching world cup or accessing news bulletins
                                 4) Global roaming we can access service anywhere in the world.
                                 5) Electronic diaries and lists.
                                 6) Video conferencing for business class and as link for student and etc.

    Strategic of 3in UK:-
                                       1) Signing of the agreement with ITV's flagship channel.
                                       2) Signing the deal with leading handsets company because they are complimentary goods.
                                       3) Design & development of the new service according to the customer needs and wants.
                                       4) Promoting & customising the product 
                                       5) Live streaming of world cup match directly on customer mobile phone.
                                       6) Launch of the X Series from 3, which is supported by a commercial link with key Internet service and software providers such as Microsoft,         Yahoo etc.
Positive point of the first mover:-
                                                           1) As a First mover we can easily make market share.

                                                           3) Leading edge of new development. 
                                                           4) Brand Awareness.
                                                           5) Associated by customer with expansion.
Negative point of the first mover:-
                                                            1) High risk of failure of the product.

3 is continually seeking to improve its network and services. This involves improving:
  • 1)the network
  • 2)the content available through the network
  • 3)links with mobile phone producers
  • 4)links with global leaders in internet technology.  
  • Threats of 3:- Changing in the Technology i.e coming of 4G , satellite phone, etc. 
  • Protecting:- Doing continues research on new technology.

It is a good analysis Rohit. Also I would like to add that the strategies implemented by 3 for the 3G was a result of  the market research done by 3  which showed that consumers are interested in the extensive range of 3G phone applications rather than the basic functions.
