Hello Flint Area Teams,

We are asking for your help!! FIRST is about more than robots!

My names is Leigh Ann Stone and I am a mentor on FRC Team #302 The Dragons from Lake, Orion, Michigan. FIRST in Michigan has been contacted with a request from Hurley for supplies. Donations will be accepted from 1 - 3 pm at the Hurley West Flint Campus parking lot, 1085 Linden Rd.

Items that can be accepted include: N95 masks, Disposable face masks, Face shields and safety goggles (they can be sanitized), Disposalbe non-latex gloves, bleach or anti-microbial wipes. They cannot accept homemade masks or 3D printed parts.

Our team started collecting safety glasses and masks for a local hospital yesterday.

We contacted the members of our team to collect any supplies that we had, but we wanted to do more - we wanted to create a collection site for our entire town.

We contacted our Township Supervisor to see if it would be okay to make a drop station there so the entire town could contribute. He jumped at the chance and allowed us to collect at their building from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm,  Monday - Friday.

We found 3 bins for collection - new safety glasses, used safety glasses, face masks; we made a couple of signs using old garage sale signs.

We then created a digital flyer and posted it to social media. We made sure it got to the large groups in Lake Orion. I attached a copy of the flyer for reference.

What we are asking of you is to collect any safety glasses your team members may have laying around and them set up similar donation boxes in your area and start collecting these Personal Protective Equipment. It’s pretty simple and we have received a lot of positive feedback from the healthcare workers in our area - they do need this!

Thank you!
