Good morning!

Attached is a sample of Quality Checklist for Raw Materials (ISO) used in our plant that our group (Smiley) can use during the Plant visit. I'll just make copies and bring on Saturday.

Thanks.

Guys

I won't be able to make it because I will have classes in alabang (Genpact) unless some miracle happens!

Good luck to the group, I see the preparations going well!

For our assignment this Thursday, we will take up Operations consulting & Reengineering. Next group after last assigned topic handles. No case assignment, but give me time to give inputs... I might do some "on-the spot" case assignment & presentation

Thanks... in case I could make it (miracle), I will join the group and advice.

By the way, in all my past plant visit, the groups did not give certificates to the hosts but I will not object to giving one. We will not involve the dean here in case you have a certificate.

Gus

sorry for late reply, computer problem ... installed a software that I should not have installed and it screwed up my notebook!

Guys, I might be able to join the plant visit but will most probably skip the sidetrip.

Mike, I was able to communicate with Alvin last week for the supposed trip yesterday.  If both of us can make it on Oct 23, I'll just ride with him ha since we're 2 blocks away lang, but thanks for the accommodation.  Also, Alvin is actually open to carpool for all South people, for sure free toll fee (gas din daw hehe), and he's also skipping the side trip.  I think Eric is still fixing his sched as well, looks like he has appointment also, nevertheless I suppose he'll still join the South group by default.

Mike & Eric, presuming all our afternoon appointments are in Manila, we can all still go back together.  Any set-up, either you still bring your car or ride with Alvin, just let me know what's convenient for you especially since we all have appointments, i'll coordinate for everybody, basta ako makikiride lang with either of the South guys hehehe.

Thanks.

Regards,
Arian Trovela

Thanks Judith.  This reminded me of sharing excerpts of our team (HAY-C) reports as reference for Operations Planning (OP) inquiries.  Also a typical flow chart and description of noodles manufacturing process (noodles.pdf slides 1 & 2 or Noodle Flow Chart.pdf).

Teammates, below are suggested OP inquiries following Sir Gus' framework and our report.  Please feel free to comment and add/edit, maybe organize also, still in semi-random order. :-)  If these are okay, maybe we can send to Jeff so he can forward to his contacts so they can prepare in advance.
  1. Monde Nissin's supply/manufacturing process description?
  2. How does Monde Nissin conduct its OP?
    • How frequent are OP meetings held? Any pre-OP meetings?
    • Who are the attendees and stakeholders?  Specific functions of each?
    • What are the expectations from each of the attendees during OP meetings? Pre-work done and post-meeting commitments by each?
    • General description on what transpires during OP meetings?
    • Any documentation being done for future reference and accountabilities?
  3. Does the OP output really meet the goal of keeping supply and demand in balance?
    • Which of the resources constrain or limit supply? i.e. process bottleneck (e.g. plant capacity, materials, workforce, working capital, etc)
    • What are usual events or considerations that cause supply fluctuations?
    • Are there observed seasonalities in demand?
    • What are usual events or considerations that cause unexpected or irregular demand fluctuations?
    • Which supply management strategy/ies are being employed to address these imbalances? (e.g. chapter 16 slides 7&8)
  4. In the process of maintaining balance, which costs are usually being compromised? (e.g. chapter 16 slide 9)
    • How do planners "optimize" or minimize costs?
    • Any quantitative tool used or just gut feel or from experience?
  5. How does the OP align with the overall business plan?
    • As business plans are being prepared way ahead, how are these being adjusted and/or translated to operations plan?
    • Any tool or technique used in forecasting demand and eventually recasting forecasts?
  6. How is OP being measured? KPIs? (e.g. demand forecast accuracy, fill rate, etc)
  7. How is OP then translated to daily production/operations schedules?

Hope this email helps, thank you.

Regards,
Arian Trovela
