After you read the three writers for today, can you find any common
themes in their writings? Taken separately, what is each writer
concerned with?

In reading these writings the only thing that I can see that the
writers have in common is the fact that they want equal rights. The
authors all talk about wanting the U.S. government to help them with
their rigths of being equal and for their rights to thrive as a race.
Red Cloud is concerned with getting help from the government so that
his nation can be happy and that they can help their young learn and
to thrive. Sa talks about the schooling that the Indians are recieving
and that it is not good it is just the fact that the white man uses
his intelligence to show the best work that the children have done,
but really they haven't become any smarter. Dubois talks about how Mr.
Washington talks about the African-Americans in the U.S. need to be
recieving three things, higher education and training, respect, and to
become business owners and land owners. These writings were very well
written and I really thought Dubois was the best writing that we had
to read. -Malone

I really like these short storys. All the authors are basiclly taking
about how they want everything to be equal. The story I really like the
most is Red Cloud. I like how he talks about his father, and he goes
by what he says. This man wants everyone to be the same in his town.He
even said they don't like rich people, because when they come around
they steal things from there town. Another thing i like the most about
this town, is when people cause problems they tell them to leave there
town. Only if we could do that in our world, everything would be
peaceful and trouble free.

These short stories were very interesting. The main things the
writers had in common with these writings was the fact that they
wanted equal rights. The authors all talk about wanting help from the
government to help them with their rights of being equal. Red cloud
is concerned with getting help from the government so they can get
better education. Dubois talks about how Mr. Washington says the
African Americans need higher education, respect, and to become
business owners. Sa talks about how bad the education that the
Indians are recieving is.

In the writings all i can say they all want is peace and to be treated
and respected equally. It seems they all are fighting and preaching
for their rights which they all do deserve. One is concerned about his
race and land, another is worried bought how her race is being treated
at wotked and looked down on, and the last one is tired of his race
being the bottom of the barrel in America and is ready to step up and
make a change

The common things that I found was about rights or just treating
everybody fairly. Each writer is concerned with that one particular
race that they wrote about and how they changed because something
happened.

In the three stories respect and equal rights is what i fing that the
stories have in common. in one story the man fights for his land, in
another story the women wonder why they keep certain people on the
job, and the other story talks about how black people need to move up/
he wants all the black people to be on top not the bottom

All three of these stories dealt with the want or need for equality.
In Red Cloud’s speech “All I Want is Peace and Justice,” He very
respectfully discusses the situation his people are in, how the
American government at the time treated his people, and how they react
to their current situations. From another prospective, Zitkala-sa
discusses how it is to be the product of a white father and a Sioux
mother while growing up in a American school for Indian children. The
attempts to educate them were poor and were only made with the use of
inadequate teachers. She also spoke on how she begins to lose her
touch with the Indian side of her in the white man’s world. W.E.B. Du
Bois rivals Booker T. Washington points of views. Although W.E.B. Du
Bois stands for equal rights for the African Americans, he doesn’t not
believe that they can obtain it in the way that Booker T. Washington
believes in.

All three works, have the theme of equal opportunity or equal rights.
One writes about the Native Americans and its lands and its right's as
citizen's. Then the others write about Job stability and why workers
are fired and others aren't, and also about people being discriminated
because of their color of skin. Also, Black's not having the
opportunity of rising to equal treatment.

The writings were kinda similar. The only thing that I could detect
was that they were writing about companion ship and friendly things.
People should treat everyone the same and we should all get alone.

Equal rights and how everyone deserves to be treated fairly. From
african americans to american indians who have been persecuted should
have the right to find justice, earn and education, and should be just
like everyone else in society.
