"This is the way the world ends . . ." Along with Ezra Pound, T.S.
Eliot stands as one of the foremost thinkers and writers of literary
modernism. In the two poems for Wednesday, what ideas is Eliot
exploring? Granted that "Love Song" has love in the title, but what
else is the poem about? And what exactly is going on in "The Hollow
Men"?

The Love Song is about a prude who is discusted by the small details
that he has never really had a girlfriend, in fact it is kind of an
anti-carpi diam poem. In "The Hollow Men" it is about the corupt
leaders who have no ideas of their own.

I think he is going on about how a man is thinking. Maybe what a man's
mind is doing. I really like the way he writes his poetry. Its makes
you slow down and reread whats really going on. but in the " the love
song of j.alfred prufrock" , he got me there. I didn't have a clue of
what was going on. When i was reading this, i was wondering what was
going threw this mans head. He has some crazy thoughts.

Prufrock was actually an intersting yet somewhat confusing poem. This
guy is all over the place. He is almost questioning himself through
self consciousness and self doubt about talking to a woman or
something along those lines. He mentions people chiding him and
criticizing his habits and I think he scares himself out of taking the
initiative to find love. Other than love, though, the poem seems to be
about this man finding himself in some small way; facing a
realization. The Hollow Men was rather interesting. I liked it. It
talked about various types of groups of people...men who thought they
had some leadership or authority but never came up with anything on
their own or portrayed to know what they were doing or talking about.

I think the connection or similarities between the two poems is that
both percieve imagination or curiousity. The Love Song of J. Alfred
Prufrock talks about how it would have been with the person lover. A
bunch of "if" moments that the writer imagines and stuff that the
person did that could have been better or worse. And Hollow Men talks
about death but the writer writes it as if the person had died and is
imagining what it would be like to meet these ghosts or experience the
dead world.

IN the poem he is looking for love trying to find something and don't
know where to go. The Hollow Men talks on how there is no meaning

In the poem "Love Song" the man is trying to find love. Its seems like
he has been with out a girlfriend his hole life. He is lost and doesnt
know which way to turn to lead him inton the right direction. The
Hollow Men didnt have a meaning. The man were dumb and the poem was
poem was point less.
