Dear JC,

Recently there were two mails mentioning the changes in the mess registration process. I want to seek more clarification on this issue. I have no idea when and where this issue was discussed and decision was taken. I do not see any other MMCC member knowing about this in advance either. I took some time to know what other students think about this new rule of random allocation of mess. With no surprise, I did not find any student (whom I asked), in favor of this decision. Though my sample space is small and does not represent entire student community, not finding a single student in favor of the decision is something you should think about. Even many of my fellow MMCC members are unhappy with this change and you can consider them as a part of this mail too.
Here I have few questions. I expect answers from you.

1) Please clarify what difficulty were faced in previously followed procedure which made you to take this decision? If I am not wrong the registration through student2 portal at 5am was never a problem. The attempt of iKollege registration had problems though.

2) Why random allocation? This is very unfair to randomly allocate the mess. I would like to bring very important point here. There are students who want to dine in a specific mess and to the flip side of this, there are students who just don't bother about so and so mess. The students who were concerned about the mess were always ready to wake up early and register whereas the one of other type won't care. Now what are you doing here is, you are not giving any attention to the student's interest which may end-up in less concerned student getting the mess which more concerned student would have like to get. Now, how much fair it is?
You take any running system, it is always first come first serve. After all, system should give the credit to ones interest and efforts and not to the luck.

3) Finally, have you considered the students' interests in this matter? I am sure not. Believe me, more were happy with previous method of registration than the new one.

Anyone having answers or addition to these question may reply to all.

Thanks,
Shon.
