Dear MCX and MMC users:

It has been a real pleasure watching the user's community
grow over the past years. Writing and maintaining these
codes have been the fun part of my life, and I enjoyed
every interaction with the users - on the mailing list,
private communication, or face-to-face discussions during
conferences.

In the past several years, I have been maintaining these
projects exclusively using my personal time. With the
worsened funding situations, it becomes increasingly
difficult to continue developing these packages as well
as to support the stably growing user community.

To make it possible to get protected efforts and bring
more stable, powerful MC software to our users, I would
like to apply for an NIH R21 mechanism. If funded, a number
of exciting new development will be delivered, including
a fast Jacobian calculation and streamlined image
reconstruction capability (partially implemented),
extended support for wide-field/pattern illumination
and camera-based detectors (partially implemented),
and a new technique that can speed up MC by 5-10
fold independent of hardware acceleration! More
importantly, this funding will enable the long expected
training courses for our users to learn all the tricks
and features of MCX/MMC.

I need everyone's help to make this possible. If you
found your research benefits, or will be benefit, from
MCX/MMC, I would like to get a few lines from you on
how MCX/MMC was incorporated in your works and
how the continuation of the project will impact your
research. Please take a couple of minutes to fill out a
simple form online:

If google drive is not accessible to you, you can send me
an email with the following information:

Your Name:
Title:
Lab/Division Name:
Institution:
Funding Source (optional):
Testimonial (A few words on how you use MCX/MMC in your research and why it is important to you):

If you are a PI and consider MCX/MMC as an important
part of your projects, please also consider writing a 1-2 page
support letter. Let me know if you plan to do so. My goal
is to collect 5-10 support letters and 50 testimonials in
the next 3 weeks (by May 25).

I appreciate very much your help to advocate for this
project. We together can make MCX/MMC a valuable
platform for the community!

Qianqian
