Minutes and Last Meeting of Spring

Hey everyone,

Sorry the minutes are a bit late.  We had a thoughtful meeting after our spring event. 

Below is a recap of it all.  We do NOT have a meeting this Wednesday (come check out the Media Oppression room and all the others in Tunnel of Oppression instead!  its mon-wed this week only from 10am-8pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Union).

BUT, we'll have our final meeting next weds, May 9 @ 430pm @ Key Hall 0106...we'll have some food probably, watch some media clips (hopefully Bill Moyers' Buying the War), and do the Bubble Project one more time.

MINUTES:

1) Recap of Branches

*Video

-Virtual Edit: free editing software Jason is using
-Now needs to: capture clips/record original footage
-Plans to post the video on the website
-Jason also suggested interviewing different student groups on campus

*That Fresh Radio Piece

-Show 52: Jared Ball on COINTELPRO and the Commodification of Hip Hop
AND Peter Christ of L.E.A.P. (Law Enforcement against Prohibition)

-Tunnel of Oppression and May Day will be this week's feature

*Media Literacy and Reform

-Will show Bill Moyers' "Buying the War" and do some Bubble Project for last meeting
-Next year: do a series of workshops on utilizing media for your message

2) Beyond this Semester...

*Crucial outreach needed
*Need to focus on inclusiveness at each meeting and something to have each time

-Over the summer, will plan a schedule of meetings out

*1-2 fall programs
*Better room
*Enforce EXEC meetings
*Collaborate with other student groups and SGA
