Translation for Open Images

I'm here to talk about translation of Open Images, and the possible
use of translatewiki.net. I was approached by certain individuals
about translating Open Images using the translatewiki.net services.
Basicly, I just came here to open talks about this, as I'm not sure in
what level previous discussions have taken place.
Translatewiki.net is a user translation service with a large user base
that manages translations for open source projects, most notably
MediaWiki (the software behind Wikipedia), MantisBT and StatusNet.
We'd be very happy to accommodate translation support for Open Images
(and other mmbase projects if required at a later date), if the
community is happy to use this service.

We'll require someone to act as our contact to notify us of releases

I was contacted by Maarten Lewis about translating Open Images and he enquired about commit access to our MMBase repository in which Open Images resides to be able to commit translated resources. So yes, you're at the right address but I'm not very familiar with translatewiki and how it would/could work together with Open Images.

Basicly, translatewiki.net manages two key things:
1) Users (over hundreds of languages), sign up to translatewiki.net
and use our web interface <http://translatewiki.net/wiki/
Web_interface> to translate messages.
2) Staff manage existing messages, and commit the to the repository
when translated. This is done fairly often, and can often be requested
(whether its for a release, or whatever other reason). They also
handle format of existing messages, which lets the developers get on
with their work with little fuss. Whenever new messages are made
available (in English), translatewiki.net staff will import them into
translatewiki.net and they will then be up for users to translate.
Generally we notice this pretty quickly, and do it automaticly, but
the contact can also poke us and we'll get right on it. We manage
getting them into the wiki and getting them back into the projects
repository. If your wondering how the software/interface does it, its
all open source and its part of the MediaWiki package, which can be
found here: http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/Translate/

So, in very short and if I understand correctly you can help us with translating our software when one of your staff had commit access? That would be great. And your are our contact?

OK. If no one reading this list objects, I believe I can make you an account to our SVN repository. Have to polish my unix knowledge a bit though, don't know how right out the top of my head. You want to use this same e-mail address you used to subscribe to this list to which I can mail you the credentials?

Yes sure, if you need an SSH key or whatever off of me, just ask. If you
need an subversion commit name, if I can be picky, I'd prefer "Lewis
Cawte", which I know is possible, as I have various svn repositories
served off my machine that I setup, however at the end of the day, its
your project, your svn etc :)
