Hello MM Class of 2022!

I hope this email finds you well. Congratulations on wrapping up your junior year of high school! We hope you are able to relax and enjoy some fun summer activities!

I am emailing you with some updates for senior year and reminders for the summer checklist. This month, we will be focusing on some data collection necessary for your college applications this fall. Please make sure to read this email thoroughly.

SAVE THE DATE → Start of Senior Program!!

  • Minds Matter Senior Program starts Saturday, September 11th

  • We will be virtual throughout the Fall semester.

Please complete ASAP (no later than July 15th)

Suggested actions due by July 15th

You can find detailed information about these steps in the Summer Checklist

  • Connect with your mentors

  • Safely store the following documents (physically & digitally):

    • Parent Tax Return information (as applicable) from 2019 & 2020

    • Parents W-2s from 2019 & 2020

    • If you work, your W-2s from 2019 and 2020

College Knowledge Tip of the Month: The summer is a great time to attend virtual admissions info sessions for colleges and universities. If you’ve been working on your college list, try looking up your schools on Instagram or going to their website to see if they have any sessions available. This is a great way to demonstrate interest and find specific pieces of information to help you in your college applications.

Additional Opportunities + Resources

  • Questbridge: If you are interested in applying to the Questbridge National College Match, make sure you sign up for their listserv at this link.

  • Several Top Tier Liberal Arts Colleges hosted a series of virtual events about the college application process for students & families. View those recordings here

  • Share your interest in applying to Discover Swarthmore, held each fall, which is an all-expenses-paid overnight fly-in program for high-achieving high school seniors. Admissions pays for all transportation, meals, and on-campus housing expenses for students selected to attend one of these programs. Complete the nomination information form by July 1st, and we will follow up with you about the application process. A MM nomination does not mean you will be selected for this program.

  • For woman-identifying students: Smith College’s Women of Distinction program is for rising high school seniors who are African American, Latina, Asian American and Native American. The application is due July 27th. If you have questions, email Tara tkali...@smith.edu and cc d...@mindsmatternyc.org

As always, please email us if you have any questions! Have a great summer!

Best,

Dan
