Hi TLs,

Please see details on what you need to know for Saturday’s session below. Please send your email out by Thursday afternoon and let us know of any questions/concerns for this week. Apologies in advance, there’s going to be some hopping between Zoom links this week for mentors.

What TLs Need to Know:

This week will be focused on a preview of senior year, including an alumni panel and breakout sessions with Minds Matter staff.

Agenda

  • Alumni Panel -- The session will start with an alumni panel focused on senior year.  The entire program will join the office hours link and staff will be splitting the program into breakout rooms with alumni. If your team has questions about senior year for the alumni, please submit them here. Please ask your team to join at 9:55!

  • Meeting with Staff -- After the 30 minute alumni panels, students and mentors will be split up for separate meetings with the Minds Matter staff -- all students will remain on the same Zoom session and will have a 15 minute session with Julia and Dan.  Mentors will join a separate Zoom meeting with Carly (link here and in the below table).

  • Triad Time -- After the 15 minutes sessions with staff, everyone will go to their typical team Zoom rooms to ensure they have a few minutes to talk as triads before W&CT starts on the team Zoom link.

Next Year’s Plans

  • We have heard from 115 junior mentors about their plans for next year -- please check the Next Year's Plans - MENTORS on the Junior Roster google sheet and ask any mentors who haven’t responded to complete this survey.

Posse

  • Dan will be reaching out to students this week to understand whether interested students will be nominated by their schools.  For more information on the process, Dan sent out a detailed email at 2:13 on Tuesday the 13th titled “Posse Updates”.

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Please continue to keep volunteer recruitment top of mind for your mentors. This week, we're asking Mentors to try recruiting co-workers (see tip of the week in the mentor section). Please ask them to try 1-3 of these suggestions. As always, feel free to explore the recruitment toolkit for ideas!

Hey Junior TLs,

We are looking forward to Saturday. We have 20 alumni who have RSVPed and even may get a few more!

Here is an updated overview of the day. (PD's this document is also in your google drive folder)

This document includes:
  1. Groups for the alumni panel (TL grouping + alumni names)
  2. Questions for the alumni (which Dan will also send to the alumni in advance)
  3. Suggested questions for triads (if you feel like your triads need the structure to have a good experience)
When we sign on at 9:55am, we will have a slide asking everyone to "rename" themselves on zoom by which breakout rooms they will be going to. As you will see, TWO teams are paired together in breakout rooms with  3 or 4 alumni. TLs,  in pairs, you will be asked to facilitate the panel with the alumni by asking them a series of questions and then holding some time for questions/monitoring the chat. We understand this is a short amount of time. We hope the panel is FUN, builds connections, encourages excitement for senior program, and helps students and volunteers consider new perspectives.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,
Julia
