Hi everyone,

The next meeting is 4 weeks from last Monday. I have reset the
attendance list and updated https://mlug-au.org. Here's the URL for the
online meeting anyway: https://meet.jit.si/mlug-au

We have yet to schedule any talks: does anyone have something they'd
like to share?

Following on from last Monday's discussions, I could perhaps research
how to reconfigure and rebuild the kernel for Ubuntu to be able to read
exfat-formatted disks. Would that interest anyone? Ubuntu would be a bit
of a learning curve for me. I would be aiming for a "Rebuild 101" style
talk, with simple steps.

Do put your name on the attendance list (on the website) if you'd like
to have an in-person meeting again next month. I book the venue once we
have 4 names: if people who *expect* to come could please put their
names on the list a bit earlier then we might manage to actually get the
dining room this time.

Cheers ... Duncan.

G'day Duncan,

I have added my name to the attendance list.

It is my understanding that all the most recent versions of Ubuntu natively support the exfat file system. The version on my laptop is about 9 versions behind and has a system error that I can't track down, meaning that to upgrade my version of Ubuntu would mean wiping the laptop with the Ubuntu partition as well as the two windows virtual machines. I am having trouble finding both the time (and the licence for the vm software) to do the reinstall.

I'll try and get it done either next month or over the holiday break. Either way, don't embark on that learning curve for a useless project!

All the Best

Howard

One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.
