We are seeing this error on booting a Dell XPS 13 9360 since running
updates on the 12th of June.

You are in emergency mode after logging in, type "journalctl -xb" to
view system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" or
"exit" to boot into default mode.
Press enter for maintenance
(or press Control-D to continue): _
Clearly there is a problem but no so severe as to stop the computer
booting press Control-D and it comes up normally the only obvious
problem is no sound neither speakers nor ear phones are recognised.
Checking system sound shows dummy output.
The computer is 1300km away from me so I can't just pop around the
corner and have a look at it. The owner is not very comfortable in the
terminal.
The computer is getting very hot. Looking in syslog I see thousands of lines of

I intend to have the owner run the following command
apt list --installed 'nautilus*'
to try to get an idea of what is happening there
and to have htop installed to see if I can find something using a lot
of cpu maybe causing the overheating.
Any other suggestions I have no idea what is causing the interrupt
emergency mode problem. Any ideas welcome
Regards
