to MASTER LIMITED PARTNERSHIPS
In the same way that an MLP unit is very similar to a corporation
share, an MLP (Master Limited Partnership) index bears considerable
resemblance to a stock market index and is used to benchmark the
performance of various MLPs. While stock indexes can be global
(representing all companies in a country /stock exchange) or sectoral
(particula r market segment like high technology, banks, etc.), a MLP
Index tracks only firms structured as master limited partnerships.

The most accepted MLP index is the Alerian MLP Index, which is a
composite of the 50 most remarkable strength MLPs prepared by
benchmark & Poors using a float-adjusted market capitalization
methodology.

The index is disseminated by the New York Stock Exchange real-time on
a price return basis (NYSE: AMZ). The corresponding complete return
index is calculated and disseminated everyday through ticker AMZX.
