I would like to set up a recurring reminder in mlo. Everything I have tried gamma on terms off the recurrence and the reminder.

One is to remind me to take a tablet before lunch. I want this reminder at 11:45 every single day. It must sound the come and appear in my notifications. It must also not create a completed task every time I mark it done. Basically , the same simple alarm that can be done in an alarm ago, but I would prefer to keep it all in one app, as I have a bunch of similar reminders I would like to have.

At the moment, when I mark it done, it never recurs. I have set the task to not create a completed copy, so maybe this does not work correctly?

Thanks
David

Try this:
(May require Pro version on Android, I can't remember)

Create new task "Take medicine" (Hit ... to edit details)

Set end date/time to today @ 11:45, start date/time to today, whenever you want it to show in your list. (I always make my tasks show up before the reminder, so that I have a chance to do it early and not get reminded -- a little bit of positive reinforcement :)

Set recurrence to "Every day" and turn on "Do not create completed copy"

Set reminder for today at 11:45 (EVEN IF ITS NOW LATER -- to get the recurrence set up). If it's not yet 11:45, set it for yesterday.

Under Reminder, Advanced Options, set it to repeat as many times as you like, choose a sound, etc. I don't think you can get a continuous alarm-behavior unless you find a sound that lasts a minute, the shortest interval I see on Android for repeating alarms.

Note: reminder sounds will be turned off if phone is silenced. You might want to set the alarm earlier and have it repeat less frequently, etc. I usually do every 10 minutes for 3-5 times.

Hit the back button until you are back at the place you created the task from, and the reminder should immediately sound as long as you are past it's time. Adjust to taste.

Next, complete the past due task. Tap on the task to see details, and verify that all of your dates including the reminder are moved forward by one day.

Hope that helps,

Thanks Lisa. I have the pro android version. I set this up on android, as you suggested. When I dismissed the reminder, then looked at the task, the star date and sure date are still yesterday, and the reminder has disappeared completely.

It appears that there might be a bug with the reminder not caring forward when recurrence is set up.

Any other ideas to get around this are appreciated.

Thanks
David

Oh, I see what is happening. Dismissing the alarm does not mark the task done, and create the next task. I did not expect that. This makes it a long process to mark that task done so the next one appears.

Is there any way I can get the task to be marked complete when I dismiss the reminder?

David,
When the alarm rings, try don't dismiss it, instead mark the task as done. Does this resulted in what u want?

Marking complete dismisses reminder but not vice versa, because sometimes you don't want the reminder but want task to stay open. There's a checkbox in the reminder window (tap the reminder notification status bar) but completing from tasklist works too.

Thanks Lisa

I completely missed that the little box in the top left of the reminder is a checkbox. With the circle arrow in there, I just thought it was an icon. That is exactly what I wanted!

Thank you for your help! :-)
