Happy new year MLNE folks!

This month sees us continue our amble through the contents of Introduction to Statistical Learning, by examining Logistic Regression models and their applications.

As part of continued efforts to refine the format of MLNE, the session will split into two parts:

(Tutorial part) 6.30 - 7ish: We'll rattle through the mathematical ideas underpinning Logistic regression, and look at applying it to a dataset. There'll be an iPython notebook (sorry r users!) for your perusal too.

(Data hack) 7ish onwards: Try out your newly learnt skills, or just see what you can do with this amazing dataset recording the time and nature of every swear word in every Tarantino Movie!

As always, thanks to Campus North and their sponsors for the venue and the drinks!

Hello all,

signups for the 28th Jan don't look promising with two weeks to go :-(

I am all excited because this is my first one and Tom (just about) convinced me about the virtues of iPython notebooks.
So, I hope numbers pick up and I get to see iPython notebooks in practice, before I make up my mind about using them.

Anything we can do to promote this event and get 20 to sign up?

Regards,
Seraphim
