The Tompkins County Public Library and the MLK Community Build will host “From Chaos to Community: Live,” a panel and community conversation, Saturday, February 26 at 1:00 PM in the Library’s BorgWarner Community Room.
The panel will be moderated by MLK Community Build members Eric Acree, director of Cornell University’s Africana Library and Sarah Glogowski, Reader’s Services librarian for TCPL, and is designed to offer the community an opportunity to discuss the text and themes of the MLK Community Build book Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community? by Martin Luther King, Jr. It will also offer panelists and audience members the chance to relate the messages of King’s book to recent community challenges and to discuss how the Ithaca community can move forward.
Confirmed panelists are: City of Ithaca Mayor Carolyn Peterson; newly-appointed Ithaca City School District Superintendent Dr. Luvelle Brown; Officer Christine Barksdale of the Ithaca Police Department; Reverend Rich Rose of the First Baptist Church of Ithaca; Gary Ferguson, director of the Ithaca Downtown Alliance and Dr. Sean Eversley Bradwell, assistant professor in the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity at Ithaca College.
