Since installing the new list software (Lyris), I've received a number of
messages from people who are confused when they try to post to the list
and their posts bounce. It's worth repeating what to do when this happens.
WHY MESSAGES BOUNCE:
Online-News is configured to reject postings from non-members of the list,
as an anti-spam measure. Thus, if you are a member but you try to post to
the list *from a different address than the list software has recorded for
you*, your attempt to post will be rejected.
WHAT TO DO IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU:
The solution is simple. At the bottom of every message the list sends out
(like this one) is a URL that allows you to change your list settings. Go
to that Web page and change your account to reflect your correct address.
Here are step-by-step instructions:
1) Go to http://www.planetarynews.com/online-news
2) Log in with your e-mail address. (If the system rebuffs you, look at the
bottom of any list message you've received, where you will see the address
that the list software has recorded for you. Use that e-mail address to
log in.)
3) Click on the "Your Settings" button.
4) In the e-mail address field, type in your correct/preferred address.
5) Click the "Saving Settings" button at the bottom of the page.
Now you can post to Online-News.
